RECOMMENDED: haus.fest at hafnar.haus 2026 / 2026.06.13.

On Saturday, June 13, Iceland’s largest creative community, .haus, will welcome the public to haus.fest at hafnar.haus, a free afternoon of open studios, workshops, music, games, and creative exploration at Tryggvagata 17 in downtown Reykjavík.
Running from 14:00–17:00, the event offers a unique opportunity to step inside one of Reykjavík’s most vibrant creative hubs and meet the artists, designers, makers, entrepreneurs, and cultural practitioners who work there every day.
More than just a workspace, .haus is a community. Across two creative hubs (hafnar.haus and hlemmur.haus) in downtown Reykjavík, .haus provides 6,500 square meters of affordable creative workspace for more than 500 members working across a wide range of disciplines.
At hafnar.haus, members have access to shared facilities including sound and video studios, ceramics and textile workshops, photography spaces, maker facilities, a gym, and a meditation room. While these resources enable creative work, the community itself is what makes the space unique. Daily lunches, film screenings, concerts, workshops, and member-led gatherings create opportunities for meaningful connections and unexpected collaborations.
This event is an invitation for the public to discover what is happening behind the doors of this creative ecosystem and to experience firsthand the value that shared creative spaces bring to the city.
"hafnar.haus exists because creative people need affordable places to work, create, and meet one another," said René Boonekamp, one of the managers of the space. "By opening our doors, we hope to give visitors, neighbors, and policymakers a glimpse into the work being developed here and the communities that form when creative professionals have access to the right environment."
The event also highlights the importance of maintaining accessible and affordable creative infrastructure within Reykjavík. As the city continues to grow and change, spaces that support artists, cultural workers, designers, and creative entrepreneurs play a vital role in fostering innovation, cultural life, and economic resilience.
Visitors can explore open studios, participate in workshops, enjoy live music, play games, and experience the creative energy that powers one of Iceland’s most dynamic communities.
