The Kaze no Bon festival has its roots in the Edo period. This 300-year-old event features night dances where performers in straw hats and kimonos move gracefully to the sounds of a three-stringed traditional Japanese musical instrument (shamisen) and the Japanese fiddle (kokyū). The lantern-lit streets are open for visitors where the skilled dancers perform.
