Nostalgia party @ underground bar Klub Vittula named after Mikael Niemi's book Populärmusik från Vittula (which immediately had a film adaptation). Both print and movie theatre release happened around 2004, the film itself beccame a Scandinavian indie cult classic among youth culture media output depciting the end of the analogue age, better put, the historic transition phase.
The bar "Vittula" also opened in 2004, held strong till 2010, amassing a large community of expats, misfits, and peripheral outsiders, and a mix of art brut and avantgarde qualities sqeezed into a basement bar with a gallery space. The venue survived gentrification and curfews and even censorship tries, including physical attacks by hired goons. It became a political issue.
By 2025 the bar was closed, with it many marginal bands and weird performance groups of Budapest have lost a place of gathering and information exchange.
The organizers of P'andiciel, the performance group of Klub Vittula are organizing an evening to reopen the place for 1 night only. Perhaps they cannot let go.
