On December 9, 1965, the fourth James Bond film, Thunderball, had its world premiere at the Hibiya Theatre in Tokyo, Japan. 
Thunderball is a 1965 spy film and the fourth in the James Bond series produced by Eon Productions, starring Sean Connery as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond.

  • Starring: Sean Connery in his fourth outing as James Bond, with Claudine Auger as Domino Derval and Adolfo Celi as the main villain Emilio Largo.
  • Plot: Bond's mission to recover two stolen nuclear warheads that the criminal organization SPECTRE is holding for ransom.
  • Notable for: Its groundbreaking and extensive underwater action sequences, which constituted a quarter of the film and featured innovative underwater cinematography and a massive speargun battle.

Stuntman Bob Simmons performed the very first gun barrel from Dr. No.
For Thunderball (1965), the aspect ratio of the films was changed to a Panavision (real) anamorphic format and so the gun barrel sequence had to be reshot, this time with Sean Connery playing the role, making it the first time a Bond actor is seen in the gun barrel.

An iconic image for every official James Bond film beginning with the first, Dr. No in 1962. Its creation is credited to Maurice Binder, a famous title designer who created the opening titles for 14 Bond films. Shot from the point of view of a presumed antagonist, it features James Bond walking in from the right side of the screen until he reaches the center, turning.
