Laurie Anderson

A pioneer of multimedia art and experimental music, Anderson invites the audience on a poetic, humorous, and deeply human journey—where personal stories echo the political present, and where art becomes a form of care, inquiry, and quiet rebellion.
Art rock icons like Peter Gabriel and Adrian Belew have appeared on her albums. Brian Eno produced and played on Bright Red. Mitchell Froom appears on her 2001 album. Fellow heavy smoker (and long-time partner) Lou Reed has joined Anderson in the recording studio several times. They got married in 2008.

As a performance artist, Anderson has crafted several great (multimedia) performances and presentations. Considered a real highlight is the four-part work United States I-IV (1979-1983), which brought public attention to performance art.

Anderson has received several honorary degrees and doctorates. She was Artistic Director of the multimedia Meltdown festival in London in 1997.

She will play in Harpa, Reykjavik 7th January, 2026 !
