The first atomic bomb test of the USA took place on July 16, 1945 under the name "Trinity Test". Three years earlier, the so-called "Manhattan Project" had already started, a military research project for the development and construction of nuclear weapons. In the secret laboratories in Los Alamos in the US state of New Mexico, the first atomic bomb was completed under the scientific direction of the nuclear physicist Julius Robert Oppenheimer in 1945 and detonated at the Trinity Site test site on July 16, 1945. As early as August 6, 1945, it was used in the attack by the American Air Force on the Japanese city of Hiroshima. Three days later, on Aug. 9, the second atomic bomb, called "Fat Man," hit the city of Nagasaki. More than 200,000 people were killed instantly, and tens of thousands died later from injuries or nuclear radiation.
