Dreher S1 Brewery used to be Hungary’s number 1 producer of beer, but which now stands abandoned. In 2022 we approached the local municipality with an idea: to breathe life back into this enormous complex—both above and below ground—through an interdisciplinary series that investigates its historical background, translating these narratives into engaging, meaningful events that build up through the years. These gatherings that take place once a year feature both live and electronic music, theater, performances and site-specific installations. The Hungarian University of Fine Arts and MOME (Moholy-Nagy University of Art and Design) immediately came on board as supporters, and by the second year, Dreher itself joined for the recultivation project.
